There are arrests in the attempted murder of a George Street boss who was shot in rival territory last Thursday. Twenty-two year old Ellis Meighan, another street figure and a seventeen year old minor were arraigned for the broad daylight attempt on the life of George Street associate, Carlos Abraham, aka Zimbab. The shooting occurred on Lake View Street, in proximity of the house of one of the suspects and in the heart of Mayflower Street which is considered Ghost Town territory. This morning, Meighan Junior and a seventeen year old known only as “Chubby” were arraigned before Chief Magistrate Anne Marie Smith. The duo was charged with one count each of Attempted Murder, Dangerous Harm and Use of Deadly Means of Harm with the Use of a Deadly Weapon, being a firearm. In court, no plea was taken from Meighan and the minor and due to the nature of the offenses, both were remanded in custody. While Meighan was remanded to the Belize Central Prison, the minor went to the Wagner’s Youth Facility. Last week Thursday, at around ten in the morning, Zimbab was shot on the neck and arm inside his vehicle that was parked in front of a tire shop. According to police, two persons approached Zimbab and fired five shots at him; two caught him. While five expended nine millimeter shells were recovered from the scene, the weapon has still not been recovered. But police were able to apprehend one of the suspects moments after the shooting.
