Disbursement Of Fairtrade Monies Commences

<p><strong style="font-size:13px;">And that brings us to the Fairtrade disbursement of four million dollars. Up to Friday, we understood that following warnings from that certifying body, Finance Committee Chairman, Javier Keme, had refused to sign checks. But he did, and today three branches – Guinea Grass, Patchakan and San Estevan have already received their checks. This means that as early as the end of this week, at least fifteen employees of the B.S.C.F.A. will be let go. As to how the Association will operate after that…it’s anybody’s guess.</strong></p>

<p><strong>There has been some talk about the possibility of G.O.B. stepping in to assist the B.S.C.F.A. with Petrocaribe monies. But all it is at this point is just hopeful rhetoric with absolutely no official substance.</strong></p>
