<p><strong style="font-size:13px;">The U.D.P. has placed great emphasis on Barnett’s integrity in public life, and Prime Minister Barrow has stated publicly that it is perhaps her strongest point. The Prime Minister is also using that claim to integrity as an attack on the P.U.P. On Wednesday, he told the gathering that indeed, Barnett’s integrity was so formidable that when she encountered corruption in the previous P.U.P. administration, she walked rather than be a part of it as Financial Secretary.</strong></p>

<p><em>“The government of the day had concealed matters from the Financial Secretary. After it was discovered and I think Minister Godwin Hulse played a huge role in that. After the fact of that secret guarantee to UHS had been discovered, consistent with her creed, her credo of integrity, Dr. Barnett clearly had no choice but the resign when the disclosure was made public.”</em></p>

Do you think that would be any kind of an issue in any campaign she would wage against you in Freetown?”</p>

<p><em>“I don’t know…that’s the first time I am hearing that. I never heard her express that to the government at the time. As far as I’m aware she resigned for medical reasons. But I don’t know, the bottom line is that the allegations of corruption are nothing now. That’s absolute nonsense, certainly as it relates to me, so she can wage any kind of campaign that she wants. At the end of the day the people of Freetown know who I am, what I represent, what I have done for them, their families and the division.”</em></p>
