Orange Walk Police have not yet prepared a charge sheet for Orange Walk East Area Representative, Doctor Marco Tulio Mendez, despite reports since late last week that charges were imminent. Mendez has remained away from the spotlight since the allegations surfaced and has been the subject of a police investigation. The exact nature of those allegations remains unclear, but the paediatrician is accused of some sort of inappropriate contact with minors. Police have taken statements from those alleged victims, since last week, but up to five this evening, no charge sheets were prepared for Mendez and there is still no clear indication of any offence for which he will be charged. Interesting, News Five has been told by multiple police sources that the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution was sent the file over the weekend for advice, and it was returned with instructions to them. When we contacted D.P.P. Cheryl-Lynn Vidal today, she told us via text that (Quote) “it has not been referred to my office, and it will not be referred.” (Unquote)
