While speaking with media, Briceno spoke addressed the issue of his colleague, Dr. Marco Tulio Mendez who was criminally charged yesterday. Once again here is Arturo Cantun.

“Yesterday afternoon OW area rep Dr. Tulio Mendez was in court to answer to charges of indecent assault. It is the first time that a sitting member of the House of Representatives has been charged for such offense and while Mendez is considered innocent until proven guilty, most will agree that his reputation is marred by now. At court this morning, the media asked John Briceno, former leader of the PUP, to comment on the matter.

“This is in the courts and it is something that the courts will have to deal with but yes I can tell you that Marco Tulio is my friend and colleague and that we need to think about the human element. We need to think that there is a family, the entire Mendez family; they are going through a trauma. It is a very difficult time for them and that I think that all of us including you, journalists should also be praying for them and Dr. Mendez, the children the entire family that hopefully someday soon that whatever troubles that they have that they can mend and heal the hurt that they are going through.”
