There is a grisly double homicide making headlines tonight, following the discovery of a pair of bodies inside a shallow grave eleven miles north of San Pedro Town. The bodies were found sometime before midday today in an overgrown area. While a motive for the murders remains unknown, authorities on the island strongly believe that the execution of Benjamin Molina and Selvino Chi may be drug-related, since that area of Ambergris Caye is frequented by beach combers, or playadores, in search of wet drops. According to police, missing persons reports were filed for both men earlier today. When investigators visited the area where Molina and Chi were last seen, they were led to a bloody trail. Upon conducting a search of the vicinity they happened upon a single grave, a foot and a half deep, approximately one hundred and fifty feet away from the beach. San Pedro police have not released further details besides the fact that both men are originally from the Corozal District. The murders of Molina and Chi are eerily reminiscent to that of fifty-six-year-old Santiago Trapp who was also killed and buried in a shallow grave fourteen miles up the coast in August 2014. Trapp, believed to have been butchered by playadores in the Basil Jones area, had been stabbed numerous times and his camp set on fire. Police on the island have been tightlipped on how they were tipped off on the whereabouts of the bodies unearthed today.
