All institutions registered with the Christian Workers Union were present at the meeting at the Labour Department this evening. The most vocal participant is union firebrand Dion Pitter, who has arguably been the driving force which led to today’s intervention. Pitter today told the media that despite arriving at an agreeable outcome, it is time to start anew.  According to the career stevedore, the existing statutes which govern the Christian Workers Union, need to be amended in order to reflect the new outlook of the association.

Dion Pitter, Stevedore

“Satisfied, yeah but it’s the way to move forward now. We wah clean up ina fi we hosue and we wah move forward with new blood and with new spirit.”

“They aren’t resigning immediately as you’ve asked for, as you demanded?”

Dion Pitter

“No but that deh pan di way based on certain decisions that we made around the table collectively—not just two individual—that process deh di happen.”

Reporter

“So it is not a resignation; he is just not standing up for others once more.”

Dion Pitter

“He is awaiting the expiration of his term; both of them.”

Reporter

“But if we are supposed to understand currently; that expiration took place long time ago.”

Dion Pitter

“Yeah. Everything took place long time ago. Everything neva mi di get constructed the correct way, so we decided to clean up house. Nothing neva mi di go by the constitution. So based on the decision weh we come to around the table dah clean up house now. So dah the way forward we di move now.”

Negotiations regarding the Collective Bargaining Agreement have been put on hold until a new president, executives and negotiating team have been determined.
