So what’s next for Cardona? Reports from sources in the Bar Association say that indeed there was a hearing and a recommendation to suspend him for a year. He told us today that if that is so, he will fight the decision. But any fight will only come after he receives official notification.

“In indeed what was said in last night’s newscast bears any validity or is in any way truthful, or reflects the reality of things then obviously I will have to take it further. I will have to take it up o appeal, because I will not allow anyone to come and destroy anything that I have laboured all my life to build, and that is my reputation. Money can come and go, possessions can come and go, but you know what? You always have to protect your reputation, and this is what I am prepared to do all that I can to protect…and protect it with all the force that I have in me. I will not allow any client, in particular this client who…to tell you the truth, when we get to the Supreme Court and the matters are fully ventilated, then in fact you will get to know that this complainant is being very untruthful. There are many things that due to professional responsibility I have refrained from revealing at this point in time, but I believe that in due course if those things need to come to the light they will have to come to the light.”
In the event that there is truth to the report, Cardona would face immediate suspension, and would remain on suspension even while he seeks legal recourse.
