If not for the heroic actions of one man, we would tonight be lamenting the tragic deaths of the toddlers trapped in their burning apartment. Investigations showed that the children were locked into the apartment by their mother when she went out. But tonight, the mother of the children, twenty-five year old Shanelle Robinson, is in plenty trouble. Robinson appeared before Magistrate Leslie Hamilton where her charges were read to her. No plea was taken, since the court prosecutor was not sure if the matter would be tired on indictment or summarily. She was offered bail in the sum of one thousand dollars, but was unable to meet it. As for the children, Shanika and Shevaun, they are currently in the custody of the Social Services Department. Both received burns on their bodies in the fire, but the injuries are not considered life threatening.</p>
