Director Of Immigration Makes Recommendation On Officers Suspended In Immigration Scandal

Immigration0001-300x225.jpgBack in September, the immigration scandal shook up the government, but it is almost four months later and there is little information on the status of three simultaneous investigations. But we can say tonight that we have been reliably informed that a recommendation has been made by the Director of Immigration, Maria Marin, to terminate three immigration officers, who were suspended when the scandal first broke. The three, however, including senior immigration officer, Sharon Neal, and Erwin Robinson and Omar Phillips, are yet to appear before the Public Service Commission for a hearing. While the Director recommends, it is up to the commission to take action on her recommendation. But the man in the middle of the scandal, former Minister of State, Elvin Penner, has not been investigated in the sordid affair. In fact, Penner continues to enjoy the perks of office and now that the recall has been called off, Penner is likely to remain as a two-term representative, which means that he will also be qualifying to receive a pension.
