At last week’s sitting of the House of representatives, in rising to speak on a number of bills designed to ensure compliance with the requirements of the Financial Action Task Force, Prime Minister Dean Barrow indicated that at least one person who was tagged to be a part of the Integrity Commission had reservations. Today a release from the Prime Minister’s office says that two of the designated persons have indicated that they cannot accept the appointment. As the Prime Minister indicated last week the bills contain wide ranging definitions of politically exposed persons which would require extensive disclosure on not only the appointees but their family, friends and associates. Government says it will begin a new the search for persons prepared to serve on the Commission and hopes the exercise can be concluded within a reasonable time. The release does not state the two who declined the appointment. Last week it was revealed that the Commission would have been comprised of Chairman Marilyn Williams, Breth Feinstein, Wilmot Simmons, Armeid Gabourel, Kevin Arthurs and Phillip Zuniga.
