For days police have been investigating an allegation of rape made by a nineteen year old woman against a well-known bail bondsman. Well tonight, sixty-five year old Adil Abdullah, who is also known as Errol Bishop, has been charged with a single count of rape. Abdullah was arrested on Wednesday and arraigned this morning before Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer in the presence of his attorney, Ellis Arnold. But after spending Wednesday night in detention, he is out tonight on bail of seven thousand dollars. The alleged incident happened in the area of Western Pines on the George Price Highway on June thirteenth. His accuser has provided detailed information on how the sexual abuse purportedly occurred. She claims that instead of taking her to view an apartment, Abdullah took her to an area near the Homeland Memorial and raped her. She also claims that after forcing her, he cleaned up and burnt the toilet paper he had used. The nineteen year old woman also alleges that Abdullah used his gun to frighten her and he told her that he would provide her with a pill so she won’t get pregnant. While returning to the City, she said, she jumped out his vehicle and she would later report the incident to her aunt and then to the police. But there is another version to the story which Abdullah gave to News Five today at his home and in the company of his wife and family. There he showed a text purportedly from the young lady which read, “Give me four hundred dollars; we could definitely work something out.” The text was dated June eleventh, 2014, two days prior to the alleged rape incident. Abdullah also showed another text dated June thirteenth, the day the rape purportedly took place. It read, “Hi, I am out of credit ‘’ and please give me a call at ….” Abdullah also claims that the young woman used her aunt’s phone to text him and call him, but we couldn’t confirm whether indeed those texts came from the alleged victim. He spoke to News Five in length off camera claiming he was involved with alleged victim six months prior to the incident. On camera, however, he was brief.

“Threaten me and she text me and she call me and she told me that if I don’t give her four hundred dollars that she will get me into problems with the police. And as you could she on my phone the text that you see that I show you that she was in contact with me by the Digicell to tell me to call her which I never call her there. She called me and she talk back to me and ask me where could she come and meet me and I did not answer her that day. The conversation was about four hundred dollars she wanted me to give her to get an apartment to move out of her man house because she say her man treat her very bad and that she is not living with her man. That is what she said.”

“How does this make you feel to know that the police say that they will investigate and even though you have witnesses or alibis you are still charged with a sexual offence like this?”

“Well it make me feel very bad because the girl know that that is not true.”
Abdullah told us also about the embarrassing visit his wife got from the police at their home. They were looking for a khaki pants and a white shirt, but found no such items and instead, took three pieces of his underwear and impounded his vehicle. He also denied that that he owns an apartment in the area where the victim claims she was raped. Despite providing two alibi witnesses who have given statements to police that he was in Ladyville at the time of the incident, he was arrested and charged. Abdullah next court date is set for August fifth.
