While the Cervantes family is convinced that Ramon Cervantes Sr. was taken against his will, the police are treating the matter as a missing person report – but not just any ordinary missing person report. By ten this morning, there were checkpoints set up in at least three different locations, a call for reinforcements and intensive searches in the area of Cervantes’ farm. Northern Zone Commander Senior Superintendent Joseph Myvett told News Five today that they may not have much experience in cases like this, but they know what to do and how to do it right.

“We have started our investigation from the farm. As far as we know at this point in time he is a missing person, and that is where we have concentrated our searches from the farm and within other areas in that vicinity.”

“Not at this time. We do not have any such information so we are treating it as a missing person at this time. We are out there. We have several checkpoints and operations going on and we have kept the family abreast of what we are doing. Likewise they have kept us abreast of any information which they had shared with us as well.”

“Yes we have. There is certain expertise that other branches possess. Especially we have sought the K-nine to assist us and we have sought other entities from Belmopan to come out and assist with the investigation as you know that any person that goes missing it bears such importance to the family as well as the Police. We are trying to solve this matter.”

Two persons have been detained by police. We are told that they are employees of Cervantes who were originally brought in for routine questioning and then held. On Tuesday night, about forty persons conducted an intensive search of the cane field, but with no success. We’ll continue to follow this story and bring you any further developments.
