Orange Walk businessman Ramon Cervantes Sr. has been missing for over forty-eight hours. Cervantes was last seen as he headed to his farm on the San Roman Road early Tuesday morning. He did not come home for lunch, and calls made to him by family during the day suggested that something was wrong. His vehicle, a Land Rover, was found abandoned in the middle of his cane-field. Nearby, family members found a sprayer he had been using as well as his shoes. Since Tuesday evening Orange Walk Police have been on the alert, putting checkpoints at strategic locations and conducting intensive searches in the area surrounding Cervantes’ farm. News Five understands that a helicopter has now been brought in to assist in the search, which has been concentrated around Orange Walk Town. On Tuesday two of Cervantes’ employees were questioned and detained, and we have been told that today at least one other person was detained. Today we could not reach family members or Police for comment, but we were able to confirm from colleagues in Orange Walk that operations have intensified.
