There’s good news coming out of the tourism industry tonight. According to the latest figures from the B.T.B., overnight and cruise arrivals have gone up in every month this year compared to 2013. Overnight arrivals from January to June 2014 went up from one hundred and sixty-six thousand, three hundred and five to one hundred and eighty-five thousand, nine hundred and ninety-eight – for a total increase of eleven point eight percent. March has been the best month for overnight visitors so far, with thirty-eight thousand, seven hundred and twelve. Cruise tourism from January to June was a big performer as well, with an increase of thirty-seven percent. Compared to the first half of 2013, there were one hundred and forty-two thousand more visitors this year. Like with overnight visitors, the most cruise passengers visited our shores in March – one hundred and fifteen thousand, two hundred and twenty-seven to be exact. The primary market continues to be North America…with Europe second and Canada third – all three regions showed increases.
