Carcamo, the Chairman of Hattieville, was part of a team of forty-five linesmen employed by Discoverseis to run survey lines within the location. An intense search and rescue operation launched on Sunday evening, including family, friends and employees of the company, remains fruitless. Despite the use of Belize Defense Force trackers and a K-9 unit from the police department, no signs of Carcamo have been found on and off the trail. Today, News Five spoke by phone with Marvin Manzanero, Assistant Project Manager for Discoverseis. He told us that they remain optimistic that Carcamo may still be alive and they have expanded their search radius.

“The latest is that we are continuing our intensive search for Mr. Carcamo, no signs as yet but there are high hopes, you know. If he is in the area we will find him. Mr. Carcamo, as you know, he was wearing the blue company coveralls, helmet, gloves glasses, all the necessary things used for the job. We extended the search to about a ten mile radius from the Freetown Sibun area. We have eight crews, eight companies, Discoverseis crews. We still have the police department, the B.D.F. and the Hattieville community at large, assisting in this endeavor. It’s a really stressful endeavor and we still have high hopes that we are going to find Mr. Carcamo one way or the other. At this point we have no signs as yet, you know. We can’t find anything, can’t find his safety glasses or even a hard hat, his yellow hard hat he was wearing in the event that something had occurred to him. And we have high hopes that if he is out there we will find him with everything on. The entire public is out there trying to assist and I want to thank everybody and our crews out there. We are getting very tired because we are out there until about six, seven in the evening, you know, until it gets dark. Our crew is out there from five in the morning trying to locate, our search crew.”

“Yes, the area where he was presently working on, the area is presently flat, okay. A little bit of patch here and there, the stream of the line because we were working south of the Freetown Sibun, so the line extends about eight kilometers to the end of the line where we were working and we had finished laying out all our recording material on the line. So basically our way out would be following the recording material on the line, the recording cable.”

The search for Kevin Carcamo continues for a fourth day on Thursday and there has not been any indication from B.D.F. or police if they will retire their efforts.
