A retired American couple and a neighbour endured a terrifying home invasion just after midnight in the north side of the island of San Pedro. The couple resides at Cloister’s Apartment in the Tres Cocos area. Just after midnight this morning, sixty-eight year old Douglas Kelly and his sixty-five year old wife, Gail Neal, were watching television in their living room when they heard noises coming from the area of their veranda. When Kelly went to check, he was attacked by a man armed with a kitchen knife. The unidentified man then proceeded inside the house and further attacked Douglas as well as Neal. A Good Samaritan, forty year old US national Thomas Fiorille, heard the scuffle and went to investigate. He too was assaulted by the knife wielding assailant. But Fiorille teamed up with Douglas and brazenly fought back. In the process, their attacker was injured but managed to make good his escape without taking anything items from the house. Kelly sustained cut wounds to the wrist, hand, stomach and head while his wife was injured over left eye and mouth. Fiorille was cut on the chest and wrist. Police are looking for the suspect.
