In addition to the murders in Cayo and Belize City, on Friday, one of two robbers at a Chinese store in Orange Walk Town was killed. The robbers held up the attendant inside the store and stole five hundred dollars in cash and two cell phones. But as they fled the scene, the proprietor of Hung Yun Store, on the Otro Benque Road of Orange Walk Town, took out his licensed nine millimeter pistol, followed them and fired several shots in their direction. Thirty year old Leslie Logan Junior, a former police constable, was hit to the right side of the body and collapsed on the street. He died while being transported to the Northern Regional Hospital located just across from where the incident occurred. The handgun believed to have been used by the robbers was retrieved as well the licensed nine millimeter pistol belonging to the shop owner. Today, Police Press Officer Raphael Martinez told the media that the proprietor was initially detained and has since been served with a notice of intended prosecution.

“The police visited a store on Otro Benque Road by the name of Hung Yun Store where the owner of that store reported that they were robbed by gunpoint by two male persons of dark complexion who made off with over a thousand dollars in cash and other items during which the owner pulled out his licensed nine millimeter firearm and fatally injured one of the robbers who was later identified as thirty year old Leslie Kenrick Logan of a Santa Familia address in Orange Walk. Police have since detained that owner of the store and have also issued a notice of intended prosecution to him as investigation continues. Of course he has been released since Friday. He has been released pending investigation. If something new comes up, we will definitely prosecute it.”

“Sir there is some reports that his intent to defend himself may have been forfeited when he pursued this alleged robber unto the street and then shot and killed him. Is that what police is investigating at this time?”
