Last night the Women’s Department held an Awards Ceremony at the Bliss Centre for the Performing Arts in Belize City. The event was held to mark the closing of Women’s Month celebrated throughout the month of March with various activities around the country. Several women were honoured and recognized last night while those from the past were remembered. Cynthia Williams, Director of the Women’s Department told us about last night’s function.
As we mentioned, the ceremony marked the closing of Women’s Month in March and according to Williams, the activities held throughout the month around the country were deemed a success.
Williams went on to advise women around the country to keep on focusing on self-empowerment and empowering each other.
The tenth Annual Outstanding Women’s Awards was held under the theme, ‘Women: Changing History, Building Futures, Drivers of Change’. Some of the women awarded last night were Josephine Arana, Daneesha Vernon, Leah Raquel Lopez, Amparo Majil, Cindey Rivero, Criselda Beatriz Fuentes, among others.
