It’s the eve of Independence and tomorrow, Belize will be celebrating thirty two years of independence. But before we get to tomorrow’s festivities, we’ll tell you how the September Celebration Commission plans to celebrate independence eve. The official ceremonies will be held here in Belize City at Memorial Park and according to the Communications Officer for the National Institute of Cultural and history, Shari Williams, the event is set to be spectacular.
SHARI WILLIAMS“As you know, tomorrow is our Independence Day celebrations and so we have started the preparations out here at Memorial Park for tonight. Tonight is 20th night which means we will be bringing in Independence Day with a bang and hence the workers in the background trying to get Memorial Park ready. Tonight’s event starts off at 8:30 and we are inviting people to come out early and bring the children. We are starting with entertainment and we have a very special performance out here by the entire contingent that went to Carifesta including Galen Eagles Band and all the other artists and performers.
After that, we have a play put together, “A September Spectacle”; after that at about eleven tonight we start with the arrivals of ambassadors and visiting guests in Belize; at twenty five minutes past eleven we have the arrivals of the Mayor, the Prime minister, the Chief Justice and after that we count down to that big moment at midnight where we have the raising of the flag and the marching of the Belize Defense Force and the Belize Defense Force Band and it doesn’t end there because I have been told that we have one hour of fireworks.
The official Independence Day Ceremony will be held in Belmopan and the event will be broadcast live.
