The first murder of the year also occurred within the jurisdiction of the Intermediate Southern Formation. Like Maria Perez, the victim was savagely chopped to death and left bleeding on the ground. The body of Guatemalan national Rene Arturo Perez was discovered early Friday morning, on a farm some five miles outside the community of Trio on the Southern Highway. The farm is privately owned, and when the owner made the gruesome discovery at around seven am, he immediately called in the Police. That scene has been processed, and Police are looking for one man who they believe chopped Perez to death. Commander of the Intermediate Southern Formation Alton Alvarez told News Five that he believes it is only a matter of time before they get their hands on the man they know only as ‘Donaldo.’

“This body was discovered by a concerned citizen within that area. He is the farm owner for that respective area and he had called the Police with respect to information. The Police responded and came upon the body of one Arturo Perez…that’s Rene Arturo Perez. He is twenty-five year old and he is a Guatemalan national and apparently he has been working in the area as a farmer…as the assistant to that farmer who had called.  Police arrived at the scene and they observed that the body had received multiple chop wounds. The Police processed the scene and an investigation continues into the matter. We know that the deceased was with another male individual at around eight p.m. the night before he was found in that condition. At that time they had left the farmer and they had said that they were leaving to their respective homes. They live about one mile apart within that same area. We are looking for one person known to us only as ‘Donaldo.’ He is a Guatemalan national of medium description. At the moment we are seeking assistance from the community in the effort to have this person brought to justice. There is no evidence as to whether or not he has left the country, but the Police have been very much vigilant. We have sent out information to the various border points and we have been liaising with our various government institutions such as the Immigration and Customs authorities within our borders.”

According to Police, the torn sleeve of a shirt was discovered on the ground near the body of Perez. When they searched ‘Donaldo’s home, they discovered the rest of the shirt, along with jeans covered in blood.
